In Cocconato, hazelnut cultivation has been a well-established reality for nearly twenty years.
In recent years, several additional hectares have been planted, covering parts of our unique hillsides—particularly the less favorable slopes where vineyards cannot thrive. This has allowed us to reclaim land that would otherwise have remained uncultivated, while contributing to the rich biodiversity of this multifaceted countryside, and providing a welcome supplement to local agricultural income.

The variety grown is the Tonda Gentile Trilobata (TGT)—an exceptionally high-quality product, widely recognized as the finest hazelnut in the world. Its shelling yield, ease of peeling, sweetness, and unmistakable aroma are all enhanced in our region, thanks to the mild climate of the Monferrato Riviera.

Local workshops and artisans produce outstanding semi-finished and finished products, such as a delicate and flavorful gianduja cream. The market is expanding both nationally and internationally. The ongoing effort to establish a quality label for hazelnuts grown in Cocconato highlights the distinctive character of our local production.
