Maciot is a young company based in Cocconato, with land located mainly in the municipalities of Cocconato, Piovà Massaia, and some inherited property from the paternal side in the municipality of Montiglio Monferrato.
The passion
for the land
and its fruits has always been present in the DNA of the owners, passed down from their grandparents, who worked as farmers as their main occupation.
Ancient
tecjniques
of cultivation have been adapted to modern needs, in order to further improve the quality of the products, which is naturally enhanced by the privileged climate of the area: the cool summers and mild winters, due to the altitude of the Cocconato hills, combined with low yields, contribute to refining the production in a natural way.
Organic
farmer
All crops follow the rules of EU Regulation 834/2007, the so-called “organic” standard, which means full respect for biodiversity, using only natural substances and processes, and consequently avoiding the use of fungicides and chemical fertilizers.
The certifying body is ICEA.
Biodynamic
agricolture
Since spring 2010, Maciot has followed a biodynamic path, which led to obtaining Demeter certification in 2013. This involves the use of spray preparations, green manure, compost with biodynamic preparations, and above all, continuous and attentive listening to what nature suggests.
Wine
production
focuses on Barbera d’Asti. Each vineyard is vinified separately, allowing the creation of “cru” wines such as Barbera d’Asti “465” and “Four Rapet”, Monferrato Rosso “Nobilino”, the varietal Sauvignon Blanc “Saurì…surlie”, Piemonte Sauvignon “D’Or”, the varietal Cabernet Sauvignon “Poch”, and Piemonte Grignolino “Vigin”.
Hazelnuts,
fruit and vegetables
5 hectares of Tonda Gentile Trilobata I.G.P. Organic fertilization with biodynamic compost and grass cutting are used.
There are also 200 fruit trees, mostly of ancient varieties (apples, pears, cherries, plums, almonds, apricots), and about one giornata piemontese of land cultivated with vegetables, which are served in local venues and on our family tables.
