The microclimate
of Cocconato

The town has been called the Riviera of Monferrato since the early 1800s. From a quote in an old book titled “Cocconato” written by the then mayor Eugenio Rocca, in the chapter on Climate, it reads

“...due to its elevated and favorable position, sheltered from the northern winds and above the level of fog and frost, where the heat and cold are never excessive, the climate is perhaps the mildest of all the surrounding towns, so much so that the olive trees in this territory ripen their fruit. Therefore, this locality, due to its climate, could become an advantageous climatic resort…”

Today,
strolling

through the cobblestone streets of the historic center, arriving at the upper part of the village, it feels like walking in a seaside town, due to the vastness of olive trees, palm trees, and mimosas found there.

Quoting
the words

of Mayor Eugenio Rocca “… On misty mornings and days, this hill seems like a rock in the middle of the sea, because while here one enjoys beautiful sunshine, the plains and the low, rolling hills all around are covered in fog with here and there the tops of bell towers, castles, and protruding towers, which create a beautiful illusion of ships floating on the waves of the sea…”

The crops
of our territory

benefit from a privileged and mild climate all year round, and the air is healthy, so much so that in the 1970s people came to Cocconato from the city to treat whooping cough and respiratory illnesses, according to the testimony and memory of the old people of the town.
