Poggio Ridente and Vallìa are the organic-managed vineyards where Barbera and Albarossa vines thrive, to which a new planting has been added: “La Pinella” — 3 hectares of new rows of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon, Viognier, and Riesling.
20
hectares
of which 13 hectares are planted with vines, surrounded by woods and hedges, located at over 450 meters above sea level.
The
grapes
are produced and vinified following the organic supply chain, which now looks towards an even more fascinating horizon: to be transformed into a biodynamic farm.
The
vineyards
divided into two main plots on opposite slopes of Cocconato, to which a new 3-hectare planting of new rows of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon, Viognier, and Riesling has been added, have good exposure and are grassed and managed without the use of systemic products.
The
research
is completed with the rediscovery of vines resulting from ancient and recent crosses. This is the case of our Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato “San Marziano”, rediscovered as early as 1980, and Albarossa “del Marusè”, a variety developed by Professor Dalmasso in 1938 obtained from the pollination of Nebbiolo di Montagna on Barbera.
The
Ruchè
In 2009, Poggio Ridente included in its project the Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, renting about 1 hectare of vineyard in the municipality of Viarigi managed organically, which allowed the addition of Ruchè “San Marziano”, bringing great satisfaction.
Organic
by choice
“I believe,” says Cecilia, “that beyond regulations and legal certifications, consumer protection imposes the right and duty of the winemaker to indicate the origin and naturalness of the raw materials, their type, the methods of transformation, preservation, and packaging used. The quality of a product thus becomes an expression not of formal rules, but of the quality of life and the environment to which I personally aspire.”
